The Good Man

by Sara Hickman

/

about

On January 6, 2021, our country was attacked by a violent mob intent on ending our American democracy. But Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman lived up to his name in the face of a terrifying assault. This is a song I wrote in his honor because I shudder to think what would have happened if he —and the other officers present that day—hadn’t had the courage to do the right thing.

With great love and respect, Sara Hickman
